A quick post to let people know this stuff works. People see their trainer and think they have always looked lean, so they can't relate to my weight problems. About 4 years ago I was pushing 200# in body weight, I was weak and developed asthma. My allergies were getting bad and I always had sinus infections. Today I weigh about 178#, I ball park around 10% body fat, and I am much stronger. My flexibility is better than when I was a collegieate athlete but I am 42 years old. How did i change? I stopped doing what the "health experts" were telling me. I stopped the bodybuilding program with jogging that 90% of all people down at the globo gym participate in. I started crossfit and eating "zone" friendly meals.
I have progressed to adding more strength work and shorter metcon work. I allow myself more recovery time between workouts, and have changed to eating Paleo. My strength and endurance have increased, I don't have any asthma problems, and I have more energy.
But the exciting thing is my mother who is 68 years old and has struggled with her weight her whole life has started eating paleo and has dropped 14 # in 2 months while doing curves workouts. (She lives in Pueblo so I don't train her.) In the last month she has lost 8 inches and 8#. If you do nothing else start eating Paleo! Her gout symptoms are disappearing, blood pressure improving, and she is helping her friends eat better. This stuff works!
